LUMEN CENTER, founded in 1976 in La-Fare-les-Oliviers by Gilles Derain, is a leading company in the field of design and lighting. Derain, influenced by Jacques Adnet and international modernism, created landmark works such as the MCP lamp, which was a great success and entered the collection of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs de Montréal. In 1992, the company was taken over by a Milanese entrepreneur and strengthened its collaborations with renowned designers such as Jean-Michel Wilmotte, allowing it to firmly establish itself on the Italian and international markets. In the 1990s, LUMEN CENTER partnered with Panasonic for an ambitious design and lighting project for the Royal Pines Hotel in Japan. The company continues to innovate, exploring the synesthesia between light, color, and sound, as well as the use of technologies such as OLEDs. It also supports important cultural projects, such as the lighting of the Japan Pavilion at Expo 2015 and works at the Veneranda Pinacoteca Ambrosiana in Milan.
